The making of a BEAUTIFUL space | Calgary Interior Designer

Every beautiful space must start with inspiration…. Lately I always start with Pinterest. If your not on there…. well you have no hope. Just kidding… But seriously. Houzz is another great place to start when looking to pull a space together. Below is an example of how I start my vision. All images are taken from Pinterest.
inspiration_edited-1 Notice how there are similarities. If you pull all of your images together and you notice there is no cohesiveness, you need to go back to the drawing board. Really take a look a what you like for each image. Is it the modern furniture or the natural items you added, if it is then start there. In the above image you can see that neutrals were constant, the light oak wood was constant and a retro vibe was constant. From there you need to head out and go shopping. YOU MUST bring your inspiration pieces  with you. You can not expect to remember once you are out looking around. As well it’s much easier to ask for help when you can show them what you are looking for. Part two I will dive into exactly what I do when I head out shopping so stay tuned.
ON-line shopping is amazing but I do caution you regarding large token items…. Like a sofa, not every sofa is comfy, so buyer be ware. I typically will source the larger items and then head to the store to see if they actually have them. The bum test is defiantly worth your time. Below is an example of how you can pull on line shopping together!

Okotoks Home | Calgary Interior Designer

This home has a little bight of everything and a whole lot of love. I’m all for mixing new with old. So many items have a story and they just need a new purpose or location. Yes there are items that just don’t fly but it’s rare that I will say remove it all together. This home is a perfect example of mixing styles, and the homeowner was thrilled. Their home was just recently featured in the Calgary Domus edition. Eeekkk!

For the love of gold | Calgary Interior Designer

I would like to start off  the blog post with… Christy your home is beautiful, so thank you for asking me to help you with the finishing touches. My job truly was pretty easy as I was working with amazing “bones” as they say. Right now I am obsessed with glod/brass touches, so I was excited when Christy was game. Mixing metals adds a pop of color and texture which is just what the space needed. Please read on for Before and Afters of the space as well as the details!

Now Selling…….

A beautiful home in Calgary’s SW. 🙂 Here is just a small look into how it turned out. I’m loving how the fireplace detail came together, with the two tone look. The black tile just added the extra pop it needed! And of course I have my usual helper and photo bomber. Can you spot her????

Who doesn’t love blank slates? We started off with a couch and chair… (which we moved to the bonus room) and the beautiful kitchen table. It makes my job pretty easy to bring it all together. I always get asked where do you shop???? Well here is a list of where it all came from!

MY favourite has to be HomeSense and Winners. We all know you have to be patient and go often. When I have a few clients on the go I’m pretty sure I am in the store every second day 🙂 Their product is a revolving door…. The prices are amazing.. The END

Items from there……  Area Rug | Wired Mirror | Throw Cushions | Blanket |Candle holders | Frames

Second Is Showhome Furniture. The couches and side chairs, metal end tables and the large artwork on the back wall are all from there. Again their store is always changing and the pricing is great. I enjoy going here for the larger purchases, the delivery time is 3-6 weeks which are great lead times.

The bonus room was completely accessorized from Target. I have always been a Target fan so when they FINALLY came here I was thrilled. This bonus room was done for less then $500!
